ISOFLEX Special Grease for Sprag Clutches.

Sprag clutches placed on applications where the clutch itself is subject to rotation will not work well with oil lubricants because the oil leaks out quickly due to the centrifugal force that the oil is under from the rotation.

The use of lubricants with additives that decrease the coefficient of friction, i.e. molibden disulfate (MoS22) or graphite doesn't work in sprag applications because in the sprag application the clutch sprags need to engage against the outer race and lock into place. Excessive lubricity prevents this so high lubricity lubricants are not recommended.

Protection from constant starts and stops is also required due to the transition between static and dynamic coefficients of frictions that a sprag is subject to so additives in the lubricant for this kind of protection are required.
